Mami Tomoe - Puella Magi Madoka Magica
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out

I don't usually post song lyrics with my pictures, but... if you haven't already seen this Madoka AMV ([link]) then I suggest you remedy this immediately. It's just perfect. Anyways, this is probably my favorite picture from Youmacon. You can see the beautiful Soul Gem ~SkylitEyed and Cyra made me (which can split open, which is the reason behind the visible seam). And of course, ~Swoz is positively phenomenal.
Mami is probably my absolute favorite cosplay to date. I'm really proud of how the costume itself turned out. I love her character with all of my heart, and all of the Megukas remind me of my friends, which gives the series a whole lot of significance for me.

Just wanted to drop you a 'thank you' for your Mami Tomoe cosplays. Had it not been for curiosity about her character, I might never have read the manga or watched the animé. In spite of how tragic the series is, I can see why you would be drawn to Mami's character.

There were a *lot* of themes in both the characters and story that resounded with me. Mami reminds me of Alis (one of my own OCs [link] ) insofar as how she tries to protect and inspire others. While their fighting styles and backgrounds are very different, putting on a smiling face to reassure others, even when it's not easy to do so, is something that has come up a great deal.

Another thing is that the *music* really got me. I run an RP-heavy play-by-post and frequently include theme music to accompany memorable scenes. The first track from OST1 (Be a Magical Girl) was the perfect match for a eulogy Alis gave for legendary muse who had ascended into heaven, bestowing her grace upon the party. [link]

I'm actually planning to use the full Walpurgisnacht/Magia theme for whatever ultimate showdown we eventually have against the demon-queen of lies... who happens to be the mother Alis' best friend (played by another person in my group). After having listened to Amanda Lee's rendition, it's just perfect for the sort of friendships shared by those characters among others.

Awesome job! I just recently saw Madoka and I loved it! I want to get it on DVD or Blu ray but it's like 40 dollars for 3 episodes!

And I know! My Madoka group was at Otakon this summer, and Gen Urobuchi was there. We really wanted to get his autograph, but in order to get that you had to buy the entire season for like, $120. It was rather unfortunate :/
